Espacios LGBTQ+ en la evolución urbana de la ciudad de El Alto: etnografía de un bar popular y disidente

Resumen

En los últimos años, los estudios sobre la evolución urbana de El Alto se han centrado en temas como la economía informal, la arquitectura de cholets y el desarrollo metropolitano. Aunque estos enfoques son cruciales para comprender las dinámicas de la ciudad, se ha relegado a un segundo plano la presencia, apropiación y evolución del espacio por parte de las comunidades LGBTQ+. Esto podría deberse a un imaginario de la ciudad ligado a un contexto históricamente heteronormativo que no permite analizar estas transformaciones. Este artículo propone abordar esta dimensión, respondien-do a la pregunta: ¿qué revela la experiencia vivida de un bar LGBTQ+ popular y disidente sobre la evolución urbana en El Alto? Para ello, el texto se fundamenta en un marco teórico derivado de la geografía y el urbanismo con enfoque de género, los espacios queer y el rol de bares y discotecas como unidades de análisis urbano. La metodología es cualitativa, desarrollada a través de una etnografía. Los resultados muestran experiencias vividas por diversas personas de la comunidad, quienes identifican al Bar Tropical  Peña Show como un espacio de pertenencia al que denominan hogar y, a la vez, consideran un núcleo para las disidencias sexuales dentro del paisaje urbano alteño.
